Do you use Adobe Illustrator? I like that program, and Inkscape. Inkscape doesn't have everything that Illustrator does, but I think it has a few things that Illustrator doesn't have, like this tiling trick that I myself sometimes forget.
Also, the MSPaint program is surprisingly powerful with the little tricks that some users have found - like changing the colours of lines or erasing lines selectively. Very interesting and versatile.
