UPDATE (April 12, 2015) - Changed the definition to "discrimination based on race".
UPDATE (June 3, 2015) - Rearranged red text from smallest to largest.
Words have specific meanings. You can't throw around buzzwords and expect to either win an argument or make it seem more valid than it actually is. You also can't stretch their definitions to fit your position.
If you need to do those in order to make your point valid, then the problem isn't the definition. It's your argument.

Definitions are stretchy.. its not our fault. 
Define democracy. Or socialism. Or race. Or gender. Or even truth. The world has nuance. Avoiding totalitarian "my definition is right, period" ways of thinking is useful, most of the time. I agree with much of your sentiments, though, due to the recent upsurge in Orwellian newspeak / doublethink within both major political constellations in the USA. Maybe a bit more on one side, but both have an astounding inability to empathize or compromise- and that is a problem.
